It sometimes adds pressure on us as well when our energies don’t match that of the people we’re surrounded with. That’s why it’s very important we connect with digital nomad communities wherever we go.

Being a digital nomad is unique, but it’s also different. Others might see you crazy, giving up a stable life or the life “everyone else seeks” for what they might perceive as “just a dream”. And even though you probably disagree with the majority that thinks that way, it can sometimes bother you as you.
As we grow older and our friends and families move on with their traditional lives, we may miss important events, or may no longer find the time to reconnect with them. That’s why it’s crucial to have a social life outside of the one we have back home. And connecting with other digital nomads will validate your dreams and passions, even more, eliminating any doubts you might be having.

When you make new friends, you tend to look for ones who have common interests with you. And what’s better than those who also travel the world and work online for a living?

Digital nomads are often freelancers and online entrepreneurs who, most of the time, could use the services that other freelancers and online business owners offer. How to Connect With Digital Nomad Communities
Facebook groups (for digital nomads and expats)
A really cool trick would be to do a quick search on Facebook for groups dedicated to digital nomad communities or expats in your destination of interest. Just type in the words “digital nomads in” or “expats in” followed by the name of your destinations and voila! You can switch up the wording a bit, but the results should be the same.
Almost all digital nomads with an Instagram presence, as well as bloggers and content creators, have Instagram besties. Let’s admit it, the platform has everything you need to find and mingle with like-minded people.
No matter what you’re promoting or whatever your type of content is, if you’re on Instagram, you most probably have your own tribe. This usually consists of other content creators from your niche, and most of them are usually other digital nomads. Interact with them regularly – it’s good for your engagement rate AND whenever you’re both in the same part of the world, you could meet up.
Just like you can find full-time employers on Linkedin, you could also find digital nomads just like you – whether freelancers, online business owners, or remote workers. You might connect with someone for professional purposes, but you might end up finding people that are also working remotely in the same destination as you are. This is most common in destinations with a lot of digital nomad communities like Bali and Tulum.
Coworking spaces and coffee shops
No matter what your niche is, one thing you’ll have in common with other digital nomads is the need for a strong WiFi connection and a work-friendly environment. That’s why coworking spaces and work-friendly coffee shops are the best places for digital nomad communities to form.
You might both be regulars or maybe you’d interact over a funny incident. Either way, don’t be afraid to reach out and mingle with random strangers.
